Amanae

Amanae – Amanae is a specific type of body work designed to help the individual release old, potentially unconscious traumas and emotional blockages. It is believed to be particularly helpful for those individuals who feel emotionally “stuck” in old patterns or want to move ahead with their lives but feel unable to do so.

It is felt that years of repressing emotions, childhood experiences and negative emotions have taken root within our bodies. Amanae is a method through which these negative patterns and feelings can be released.

Founded in 1987 by Christine Day, this hands-on form of body work seeks to open emotional “doorways” allowing trauma accumulated over a lifetime to depart. By opening these doorways the practitioner encourages the patient to delve into their own issues and release their hold upon the tissues. Breathing and internal integration of the work being done is part of the practice.

Amanae practitioners feel that their work when combined with specific energy techniques has a number of additional benefits such as better brain organization and improved oxygen utilization. These treatments are designed to help individuals with ADD/ADHD, autism, PTSD, brain injuries or nervous system disorders and past abuse issues.

The course of study is 9 months and requires a 5 day intensive at the start. Much of the work is taught in a hands-on method and includes a spiritual aspect. Self healing as a result of unblocked emotional trauma is the basis of much of the work, and can be an intense experience for students as well as practitioners.
