Dynamic Spinal Therapy
Dynamic spinal therapy was developed in the 1980s by Rolf Ott, and combines energy work and hands on applications to realign the spine, resolves spinal issues, alleviate joint pain and correct postural difficulties.
As the method is very gentle it is appropriate for nearly all patients. Swedish massage is incorporated to achieve physical changes while Chinese chi work is designed to facilitate the movement of energy throughout the body. A session begins with ear reflexology to assess specific areas of blockage and weakness. A special stylus is used to trace meridians throughout the body to find areas of blockage.
After the energy work a 30-40 minute treatment commences. The pelvis and spine are adjusted while the patient both faces up and down, muscles are deeply stretched and the client encouraged to relax. This activity takes place upon a Swiss therapeutic pillow that supports the body gently. The feeling is described as similar to floating on water.
Rocking the body is included in order to help relax the muscles and release tension and to allow the spinal column to realign at the end of the session.
Dynamic spinal therapy is often used in conjunction with other spinal treatments such as chiropractics or other body work modalities. With its combined approach of Eastern and Western philosophies it finds favor across a broad range of individuals.
